Starstruck: created a repository that has 16 stars. Higher tiers add a bronze, silver or gold border to the badge.
Starstruck tiers
| Tier | Stars on one repository |
|---|---|
| Default | 16 |
| Bronze | 128 |
| Silver | 512 |
| Gold | 4,096 |
The stars all have to be on a single repository you created; stars spread across several repos don't add up. The badge isn't always instant either, so give it some time after you cross a threshold.

How to get your first 16 stars
- Pick your best repo, not your newest. Something other people can use or learn from earns stars; a tutorial follow-along rarely does.
- Write a README with a one-line pitch, a screenshot and a one-command install.
- Add a description, topics and a social preview image in the About box.
- Share it with people who would care: a subreddit for its language, a Discord you are part of, a short post on X or LinkedIn.
- Put it in front of other builders on StarSwap, where developers star each other's repos from their own accounts.
The full checklist is in how to get more GitHub stars. For inspiration, see the most starred projects on StarSwap or the top Python and TypeScript picks.
